IMPACTS OF GAMIFICATION IN EDUCATION

Games involves any activity that’s competitive and gives a Person the liberty to try again if they don’t get it right at first is usually valued and appreciated. These activities includes games which could either be cards or videos.

Gamification is the application of game-design elements and game principles in non-game contexts. It can also be defined as a set of activities and processes to solve problems by using or applying the characteristics of game elements.

Games and game-like elements have been used to Educate, Entertain and Engage for thousands of years. Some classic game elements are; Points, Badges, and Leaderboards.

Impacts of gamification in Education;

Here are some of the ways through which gamification has improved the education system;

1. It makes learning easier:
With gamification, the teacher doesn’t need to start sourcing for examples or repeat explanations to the students since they are already familiar with videos and cards which is implemented into the learning process it makes it easier and straightforward to illustrate or explain a topic with a game. This gives room for the students to learn independently and also give them the freedom to track their own progress and understand their strengths and weaknesses.

2. It improves student’s engagement:
Games naturally makes learning fun which automatically improves the students engagements. They tend to be more interested in the class and with the use of these games, every level each student has passed will allow the teacher to know how well the students are understanding the lessons.

3. It inspires and motivates the students:
Most students get excited when learning becomes more fun and gamification is embraced because it increases their level of interests and motivates the students to be willing to learn.
Games gives students the ability to try again on several occasions in case they do not get it right the very first time and gamification encourages students to be confident and not give up on themselves even if the work seems challenging. The mere fact that they are motivated gets them empowered with the zeal they need to succeed in their school work.
